Results of Water Analysis:CYANIDE
Notes:
We used 2 standards to assess the levels of heavy metals and cyanide. In the Philippines, it is the DENR that sets the standards for industrial effluents.* However, the United States Environmental Protection Agency publishes the “National Recommended Water Quality Criteria” which are “criteria for water quality accurately reflecting the latest scientific knowledge. . .based solely on data and scientific judgments on the relationship between pollutant concentrations and environmental and human health effects.”
CCC=Criteria Continuous Concentration=highest concentration of material in surface water to which an aquatic community can be exposed indefinitely without resulting in an unacceptable effect
CMC=Criteria Maximum Concentration=highest concentration of a material in surface water to which an aquatic community can be exposed briefly without resulting in an unacceptable effect
EFFLUENT = “any wastewater; partially or completely treated, or in its natural state, flowing out of a manufacturing plant, industrial plant or treatment plant”
